I love viewing open land with few trees and mostly flat grassland from a hill or mountain viewpoint. There is something amazing about seeing land as far as your eye can see that is not blocked by trees. There is a sense of wonder and curiosity about what lays beyond what your eyes can see and it makes me want to go and find out what is out there. I remember seeing an amazing view like this when I was visiting Wyoming and my family decided to go to the Grand Teton Mountains. One of those mountains had a beautiful lake in front of it. So after crossing the lake we climbed up at least ¾ of the way up the mountain to an open area that gave a very spectacular view of the land below the mountain. I remember the first time I got on a large rock while on the mountainside and could see first the lake, a shimmering blue, then the flat open grassland, after that a clump of trees making a small forest, and then finally mountains in the far distance. This sight took my breath away at how beautiful it was and amazed me that I could see so many land features at once. Of course I was also filled with curiosity as to what was in those open fields, the small clump of woods, and the mountains in the far distance and I had a desire to go explore them.
