Words. I’m pretty bad with them, yet they are still a wonder to me. One of my favorite Pinterest boards (yes, I do still use Pinterest) is specifically for words. On my Word Board, I have compiled hundreds of different quotes, phrases, and sayings. I kinda think of it as my own little word-hoard, sorta like a squirrel storing acorns for the winter. I found myself saving writings of other people that perfectly explained/translated/told the thoughts and feelings that I had but didn’t know how to describe. The things I just didn’t have the words for.
I think that is why words are a wonder to me because so much of our feelings and emotions can be expressed through them. Through writings found throughout the Bible, we can clearly see the triumphs and struggles the writers faced. In books like Lamentations, we can see the deep sorrow the Israelites felt after Jerusalem fell to the Babylons. And in contrasting books like Romans and Philippians, we can see the joy and the hope that is prevalent because of salvation through Jesus Christ.
Growing up I was taught to memorize Bible verses so that I would be able to have them as I went through life. As I used these words to help me through the highs and lows I’ve had I’ve seen the power that words can have. Words are such a wonderful tool that we have been given and they are something that will always be a wonder to me.
